Just wondered if there is an easier way to import blog rolls between blogs instead of having to recreate them in a new blog. Found the answer at http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/import-export-links/.
In short you simply export links by saving old blog links as yoursite.com/wp-links-opml.php.
You then import this file into the new blog using wordpress import in tools menue.
